Section Supervisor

Basic Function:
The Section Supervisor plans, organizes, directs and controls production operations as assigned, including the planning, scheduling, training and monitoring of activities and personnel, as assigned.

Essential Duties:
Within the limits of authorized Company policies, procedures, programs and budgets, is responsible for and has commensurate authority to accomplish the duties set forth below:

  1. Supervises assigned production operations, daily, including training and assigning personnel engaged in manufacturing operations.
  2. Schedules and directs assigned production operations.
  3. Coordinates with other Company personnel to schedule production activities, requisition materials and resolve problems.
  4. Participates in production planning, daily, with bi-hourly counts and summaries provided at the end of each shift.
  5. Insures the proper reporting of production and time data.
  6. Trains assigned personnel on in-process quality control procedures and conducts random inspections to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
  7. Communicates with and ensures compliance by assigned personnel with safety and housekeeping procedures.
  8. Requests the assistance of maintenance technicians, as required.
  9. Controls departmental expenses within established budgets and exercises sound fiscal judgement in Company financial matters.
  10. Selects and develops employees to staff this production function; evaluates subordinates' performance; and recommends compensation changes to ensure the attraction, retention and motivation of qualified individuals.
  11. Keeps abreast of the latest developments in production techniques and processes through reading, attendance at seminars, etc.

Knowledge:
Working level knowledge of garment/fabric processing and production in the activity to which assigned, including textile specifications, machine operation and quality standards is required.

Experience:
Three years performing duties in the production function to which assigned, here, are required.

Skills/Aptitudes:
Attention to details; good administrative, planning, problem solving and oral and written communication skills; and an aptitude for directing and motivating people are required.

Working Conditions:
Plant environment. Extra hours may be required.
