Quality Manager

Basic Function:
The Quality Manager plans, organizes, directs and controls the quality control operations for the Coat and Pant Departments, including ensuring that garments manufactured meet the Company standards and provide the information necessary for timely corrections in order to reduce costs.

Essential Duties:
Within the limits of authorized company policies, procedures, programs and budgets, is responsible for and has commensurate authority to accomplish the duties set forth below:

  1. Ensures that items manufactured in the Coat and Pant Departments meet Company standards, including training and guiding personnel in that function.
  2. Organizes the quality control function to achieve stated objectives; periodically review the function's effectiveness and makes recommendations as appropriate.
  3. Coordinates the quality control function with other department operations as appropriate.
  4. Checks the quality of garments being produced to ensure standards are maintained, including reviewing efficiency reports and quality reports, and working with supervisors to resolve operator quality problems.
  5. Develops and manages quality control programs involving inspection and control techniques to reduce defects, lower costs and ensure the overall high quality of the garment.
  6. Maintains continuous surveillance either directly, or through quality auditors, and takes necessary action to correct problems.
  7. Analyzes information from quality auditors regarding inspection procedures and recommends solutions for improvements.
  8. Communicates with, and ensures compliance by assigned personnel with safety and housekeeping procedures.
  9. Selects and develops employees to staff the function; evaluates subordinates' performance and recommends compensation changes to ensure the attraction, retention and motivation of qualified individuals.

Knowledge:
Working level knowledge of garment construction and quality control techniques and standards in the apparel industry is required.

Experience:
Five years performing tailoring tasks, including performance of various duties within the manufacturing function are required.

Skills/Aptitudes:
Ability to deal with people at all levels within manufacturing; attention to detail; manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude; analytical, planning, problem solving, and oral and written communication skills; and an aptitude for directing and motivating people are required.
